Monday was my first day of summer school, so I thought I would start out with this quote:

Training. You have to think about learning, and you have to make thinking a habit, much like you train a dog to behave

ReplyDeleteI agree with Josie I- Thinking/pondering/reflecting- those things should come naturally, but our educational system most often trains students to memorize instead of think. My favorite classes in college have been those where we sit and discuss opposing views in to practice viewing different sides of of an argument.
I have been most grateful for this "liberal arts" style of education because it has helped foster an environment of true learning and study in several of my classes. Plus, it has helped open my mind and helped me understand and appreciate belief systems other than mine.
